The nearby Cape Palmerston National Park, accessed by 4wd either through the inland (dry weather only) or via the usual pleasant drive along the beach, is known to a select few as a perfect spot for sightseeing, 4wding, crabbing and fishing.
Come and visit, you will be pleasantly surprised.
Beaches and birdwatching, fishing and crabbing, national parks and four-wheel-driving makes your stay as relaxing or as adventurous as you please. Explore the islands of the nearby Northumberland Isles in the Coral Sea or just put down an anchor and lazily fish or snorkel the shoals. Take the nature walk through to the beach and either set up a towel and watch the gentle hypnotic waves roll in or beachcomb the tide line to Knobler's Creek. Get up early and watch the sun rise over the ocean or enjoy your sundowners with friends at your site while enjoying the sun setting over Mt Funnel. A night time stroll to the beach through the nature walk will give you magical glimpses of the elusive fireflies that inhabit the area.
