RIVER COTTAGE is set in the picturesque mountain ranges of the northern tablelands. The area embraces four distinct seasons from mild summers to bracing winters. The nights are always cool in summer to allow a peaceful sleep and the ever changing landscape takes your breath away. From the panoramic views of the area to the peace and tranquility of the sounds of the bubbling water cascading over the rocks and sand of the mountain fresh Macdonald River meandering through the property.
RIVER COTTAGE is located on a running cattle station enterprise called ""Loloma"" which is adjacent to the village of Woolbrook and only 25 kms from the township of Walcha. The property spans over 2000 acres of countryside with an elevation of 1000 meters above sea level. From the everyday runnings which go hand in hand with such an operation to the relaxing sounds of the Macdonald River which passes straight through the centre of the property giving the keen fisherman 6 kms of tranquil fishing locations all to yourself. If your not into fishing, then pack a picnic basket and wonder down to the river, read a book and watch the cattle graze or catch a glimpse of the various platypus families frolicking along the river.
Fully equipped kitchen and barbeque facilities are available but if you don't want to fuss in the kitchen, then there is a local pub offering exquisite meals only 6 kms away for that night or lunch out.
Walcha, being the nearest town, offers many cafe and lunch spots and browse through the town to look at the many various art pieces produced by local talented artists. This is the home town of the popular sculpture, Stephen King plus many others.
RIVER COTTAGE will offer you the escape from the busy city life to unwind and curl up with a good book and relax in a newly renovated and very comfortable farm cottage.
RIVER COTTAGE is a 50 minute drive from the major centres of Armidale in the north and a 50 minute drive from Tamworth in the south. For your grocery needs if you are travelling from the east coast along the Oxley Highway, Walcha is the last town to pick up your grocery supplies. If your coming from the north along the New England Highway, then Uralla is the last stop to pick up groceries and if your coming from the south, then Tamworth would be the best spot to purchase your groceries before arriving. However, Walcha is a short 25 minute drive if you decide to arrive here first.
