Stylish accommodation where New England’s fabulous local produce is showcased.
Aurelia’s Farm is a five-acre hobby farm on the outskirts of Uralla in New England High Country. The family home of Andrew and Tara Toomey, Aurelia’s Farm offers travellers peaceful, comfortable accommodation in a quiet semi-rural setting just 15 minutes on foot from the shops and restaurants of Uralla.
Guests can choose between two accommodation options. The first is ‘The Cottage’, a detached, self-contained two-bedroom home with a fabulously modern kitchen and bathroom and contemporary country styling throughout.
The living, dining and kitchen area is open plan, the bathroom enormous with twin sinks and the bedrooms large enough for the family to sprawl, with a queen in one and two king singles in the other. It has it’s own deck with outdoor furniture, positioned facing away from the main house for privacy.
Indeed, the cottage is positioned far enough away from the house that you’ll feel as though you have plenty of personal space. The fridge is loaded with local produce for which to make a DIY brekky each day, with local wine and beer from New England Brewing Company available for purchase.
Alternatively, opt for smaller digs in the Gostwyck room, adjacent to the main house but with private entry via Frech doors onto the deck and garden. It’s equipped with a queen bed, an ensuite and a kitchenette and ‘dining nook’ with a similar DIY breakfast situation. Like the cottage, it is stylishly furnished in a simple and refined country manner, with fine linen, crystal lamps and a harmonious neutral colour scheme.
Tara is famous for her cooking, selling sweets and baked goods online and at local farmers markets. Guests can pre-arrange to have her cook up a storm, with a two-course meal representing great value at $20 per person. Kids can be catered for, and picnic baskets are her specialty. Talk about warm country hospitality!
