A lush riverside campsite in the rolling hills of the Barrington Ranges.
This free, wonderfully grassy campsite is very large and scenically located alongside the trickling Barnard River. It’s suitable for caravans and camper trailers and is dog-friendly – but always remember to consider your fellow campers and have your dogs under control at all times.
Four- and two-legged campers alike will love swimming in the refreshing, rocky pools of the river, which is perfect for a kayak or lazy lilo.
Some campsites have built in fireplaces and there are drop toilets and picnic tables, too. But beware, you might have to share the space with the odd cow as Bretti Reserve is located smack in the middle of cattle country.
There’s no denying the scenery here is truly magical, surrounded on all sides by rolling farmland whose hills dance in the late afternoon light.
You’ll want to stay a while, and thankfully you can; bookings are not required and camping here won’t cost you a thing.
