Savour a delicious feast in Hillston.
Hillston is a relaxed agricultural town halfway between Hay and Cobar, and the Clubhouse Hotel on the main street is the perfect place along this long and dusty road to stop for a meal and some refreshments.
This beautiful brick hotel was built in 1929 and retains all of its historical charm. Big rooms with soaring cream and green pressed tin ceilings are adorned with solid wooden furniture, polished brass fittings, antique agricultural detritus, and a hairy boar’s head with tusks sporting some hapless guests old dreadlocks.
Any time of the day you will find locals enjoying the friendly service while catching up on all the latest news over a drink at the main bar. If you are lucky enough to swing by on a Friday you should take advantage of happy hour and enjoy the live music on offer.
The bistro serves well-cooked classic outback pub fare with extremely generous serving sizes and an exceptionally delicious gravy. You are welcome to enjoy the food in the quiet dining room, or at one of the tables in the bar or shaded outdoor area. Lunch is available between 12pm-2pm and dinner from 6:30pm-9pm.
The Clubhouse Hotel is located at 147 High St, Hillston, NSW.
