Getting to the Southern Highlands


Thanks to its close proximity to Sydney and Canberra, a trip to the beautiful Southern Highlands is only too easy.

At the heart of the Southern Highlands sit the towns of Mittagong, Bowral and Moss Vale, all of which are easily accessible from Sydney and Canberra. From each of these towns, the region's array of unique villages and smaller towns can be visited in a heartbeat.


The Southern Highlands is just one and a half hours south of Sydney and two hours north of Canberra, making it ideal for a weekend getaway.

If coming from Sydney, take the M7 or M5 motorways south to Mittagong.

If you're beginning your road trip in Canberra, take the Federal and Hume Highways, then use the Southern Highlands exits to Moss Vale, Berrima or Mittagong.

Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink service various Southern Highlands towns daily, with journey's taking about two and a half hours from Sydney.
