Town Bio

The village of Gwabegar – pronounced ‘Wa-be-gar’ – is located deep in the Pilliga Forest, at roughly the geographical centre of the timber industries that once flourished in the Pilliga’s western region. As such, the village is known as the ‘Heart of the Pilliga’, and once sported 12 sawmills. While the local forestry industry shut down several years ago, Gwabegar remains a vibrant town, and offers excellent camping and caravanning opportunities at Anzac Park.
