Accommodation to suit every budget centred around an oasis of artesian pools.
If it’s getting wet you like, Gwydir Motel and Caravan Park is the place to stay in Moree. There’s a variety of accommodation to suit every budget and it’s all centred around a lush oasis of five swimming pools filled with Moree’s famous artesian groundwater.
A caravan park originally, the Gwydir has powered and unpowered caravan and camping sites with access to the camp kitchen and barbeque areas. It also has a range of cabins, one- and two-bedroom villas and, the latest addition, a strip of motel-style rooms comprised of one- and two-bedroom apartments.
We opted for the latter, and found it to be comfortable, clean and conveniently located to the pools; indeed the motel block overlooks the cobalt blue 25m lap pool – just try to resist!
The modern apartments are your classic roadside motel room in most respects with the comforts you would expect in extremely spacious rooms. The bedding configuration varied to suit your party and each unit is fitted with an air-conditioner and a flat screen TV.
The cabins are basic but comfortable, and vary in size, price and bedding configuration. The top of the range is the two-bedroom villa, which has a queen bed and two singles, plus an ensuite, a TV, cooking facilities and a reverse cycle air-conditioner.
But back to the pools. There are four round thermal pools to choose from, heated to different temperatures and all filled with Moree’s artesian water. Containing sodium chloride, sodium sulphate, sodium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, calcium carbonate, iron, alumina and silica, the water is said to have healing qualities that soothe joints and muscular aches and pains.
Maybe it’s true, but regardless you’ll be relaxed as they come which is therapy in itself!
