Celebrate Young’s Chinese history at the annual Lambing Flat Chinese Festival.
The Lambing Flat Chinese Festival is an annual celebration of the important contributions made by the Chinese in the development of Australia and Young in particular. The festival also remembers the town’s gold rush history, which was as turbulent as it was prosperous, and the historic riots of 1861.
The festival is an exciting and family friendly event. The program can differ year to year, but visitors can expect to see Chinese lion dancing, martial arts displays, Chinese and Asian food, Tai Chi demonstrations, and craft and Asian themed market stalls. Additionally, the festival presents an historic re-enactment of the 1861 Lambing Flat riots and a Chinese Australian short film festival.
