We ‘Take 5’ with Les Parsons, the co-owner of Inverell olive grove, Olive of Beaulieau.
Where is your favourite restaurant and bar in Inverell?
My favourite restaurant is The Top of the Town Motel restaurant, and my favourite bar is the Union Bar on Otho Street.
What do you like to do in your down time?
My favourite thing to do in my down time is go fishing, with two dams and two rivers in the district. Also love going to Iluka on the Clarence River for saltwater fishing.
Where do you like to take friends or family visiting Inverell?
The first place I take my friends is to our Cellar Door, Olives of Beaulieu, where they can taste our olive oils, olives, estate spices, and a great range of our regional foods, such as sauces, honey, jams, and chutneys.
Where is your favourite place to go for a day trip?
My favourite day trip is from our property Olives of Beaulieu, which is 9 kms from Inverell on the Copeton Dam Road, is to continue on this road to Copeton State Park and Copeton Dam. Then drive to Bingara on this road through Keera, which is a lovely drive. Stop in Bingara for a coffee and snack and then drive back through to Delungra and then back to Inverell and then home.
Any must-see hidden gems in Inverell?
A hidden gem is the Lake Inverell Reserve, being the old water supply dam on the Macintyre River. Walk the path to where the river runs in, and you will have a real good chance of seeing a Platypus or two. Also the abundant bird life both on land and water.
Olives of Beaulieu is located at 439 Copeton Dam Rd, Inverell, NSW. Click here for more information.
