Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre

Adventures

The whole family will find fun and relaxation in the mineral-rich waters of the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre.

As the artesian water capital of Australia, no trip to Moree would be complete without visiting the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre. Recently updated to the value of $7 million, it’s a first class facility that marries the ancient healing properties of mineral-laden bore water with modern aquatic centre services.

The benefits of artesian water were discovered thousands of years ago, with many European cities steeped in spa culture. Their residents and guests have enjoyed the healing and soothing properties of natural ground water for millennia.

But the residents and guests of Moree needn’t travel to Europe – the town is blessed with access to bore water from the Great Artesian Basin, heated naturally to 41 degrees. These mercurial waters were discovered by accident in the 1890s when bores were dug in search of a reliable water source. The town has enjoyed a wonderful spa culture ever since, with the Moree Hot Mineral Baths opening in 1895.

These days, a multitude of outdoor covered and non-covered swimming pools are available for guests to enjoy, some heated luxuriously to 38-41 degrees. There’s an Olympic-sized pool that services swim schools, clubs and meets, and there’s even a waterslide for kiddies big and small. Inside, private and semi-private artesian bathing is available at the Moree Artesian Wellness Centre, as well as a range of luxurious spa treatments. There’s also a fully functioning gym inside, offering state of the art equipment, group classes and personal training.

The perfect place to relax and unwind on your travels, the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre is also a great place to socialise and meet with friends. There’s a café on site should you fancy a cuppa or a light snack.

Whether it’s with your family or for some much needed alone time, you’ll love whiling away a few hours at the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre.
