One Tree is a unique Outback town located in the south west of NSW, named because of a lone large gum tree growing on a clay pan near a shallow fresh water well, about half a mile away.
The One Tree Hotel was built in 1862, and was once the Cobb & Co staging post. The building stands alone against the skyline, some 38km from Hay as a reminder of the days of squatter's runs and stage coaches. The One Tree is also another brilliant spot to view a sunset with the old hotel silhouetted on the horizon. The building now only opens for special events and pre arranged tours, however you can stop off for a photo and enjoy the solitude.
