Visit the amazing 100m-by-12m diorama of the incredible Broken Hill outback for yourself.
Located in the Silver City Mint and Art Centre, the Big Picture is a feat of artistic brilliance. Almost 100 metres long and 12 metres high, the painting features more than 100,000 saltbushes, 20,000 trees, 20,000 small stones, 1000 large stones, 3000 clouds, 1500 hills and 12 sculptures. Incredible to behold, the Big Picture creates the impression of being in the actual outback.
However, the most amazing part of this painting is that it was created by just one very dedicated and industrious local artist, Ando. This astonishing fact means the Big Picture is the world’s largest acrylic painting on canvas by a single artist, making it a unique experience indeed.
