The Australian Standing Stones is a collection of rocks that were erected as a national monument to Australia’s Celtic pioneers. The idea originally came from a small group of citizens from Glen Innes who were passionate about creating a way to acknowledge their Celtic forefathers. Three of the rocks were used in their natural state; the rest had to be split from larger formations. The three original stones are: the Australis Stone for all Australians, the Gaelic Stone for Gaelic speaking Celts from Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man, and the Brythonic Stone for the Brythonic-speaking Celts of Wales, Cornwall and Brittany.
